Scope and responsibility
This policy applies to WAB’s management and employees, and to agents and contractors acting on its behalf. Managers must explain these standards, consider integrity risks in their decisions and seek advice where a proposed arrangement is unclear. Commercial pressure does not justify misconduct.
Bribery and improper payments
We prohibit bribery, kickbacks, fraud and payments intended to obtain an improper advantage, whether offered directly or through another person. This includes unofficial payments to speed up routine government services. Do not request, offer, authorise or accept such benefits. If an immediate threat to personal safety arises, prioritise safety, then report the circumstances and record any payment accurately as soon as it is safe.
Gifts, hospitality and conflicts of interest
Cash gifts and cash equivalents are prohibited. Other gifts or hospitality must be lawful, modest, infrequent and unrelated to influencing a decision. Declare them and obtain management approval before offering or accepting them. Disclose personal, family or financial interests that could affect a business decision and step aside until the conflict is managed. Donations and sponsorships require approval and must never disguise a bribe.
Honest records and procurement
Keep accurate invoices, expenses, quotations and records of work. Describe parts, specifications, origins and capabilities truthfully. Do not create false documents, conceal payments or promise results without a reasonable basis. Choose suppliers using relevant commercial and technical criteria. Check intermediaries and unusual payment requests in proportion to their risk, and resolve concerns before proceeding.
Fair dealing and information
Compete fairly. Do not agree prices, rig bids or divide customers or markets with competitors. Protect customer, employee and supplier information; use it only for authorised purposes. Respect intellectual property and avoid misrepresenting another organisation’s approval or endorsement. Confidentiality must not prevent lawful reporting of wrongdoing.
Reporting and corrective action
Raise suspected breaches through WAB’s designated reporting arrangements, as described in the Speaking Up & Reporting Concerns policy. Retaliation against anyone who raises a concern honestly is prohibited. Management must assess reports fairly, protect relevant records and take proportionate corrective action, which may include disciplinary action or ending a business relationship, subject to applicable requirements.
